Brigidine School : ウィキペディア英語版 | Brigidine School
The Brigidine School is a Catholic non-selective independent day school for girls aged 2 to 18 and boys up to age 11 in Windsor, Berkshire, England. The campus is located at the edge of Windsor Great Park near Combermere Barracks. The student body reflects the racial and cultural diversity of the Windsor, Slough and West London local area. ==History== The Brigidine Sisters established a convent (and school) at Windsor in 1948, the second founded by the order in England and Wales. Queensmead, the Victorian bricked mansion the Sisters moved into, is still one of the school's main buildings. It is now run by lay staff but retains its Catholic ethos and religious character. During the early 2000s, the school went through a tumultuous period. In addition to financial difficulties, pupil and staff numbers plummeted and the school was threatened with closure. In 2011 parents and governors were discussing a possibility of the school entering the state sector but an agreement could not be reached. Eventually the school remained open and in the private sector after the necessary funds were raised. Brigidine is exceptional in remaining open during these circumstances, due to shrewd financial management and marketing by key parents. The Headteacher is Sue Manser.
